Bids Awarded for Library Project; General Trades Will Be Rebid

YOUNGSTOWN (October 5, 2007 – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) -- The Board of Trustees of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County met in special session at Main Library Oct. 4 to review and award bids on the new library construction project at the site on the corner of Market St. and Midlothian Blvd.

The following bids were awarded:

Plumbing Prout Boiler, Heating & Welding, Inc. $217,000

Mechanical York Mahoning Mechanical Contractors, Inc. $159,000

Fire Protection Fire Foe Corporation $84,650

Electrical Geller Warden Electric, Inc. $460,400

Casework Interior Products Co. $266,159

Bids were competitive and below the estimate.  However, Trustees voted to exercise their prerogative to reject all General Trades proposals and rebid this portion of the project.   

Ads for the rebid will begin running on Oct. 9 and bids will be opened on Nov. 6 for the General Trades contract.
